Essential oils are natural, concentrated plant extracts extracted from various plants such as flowers, leaves, bark or roots. They have strong aromatherapy properties and are widely used for both beauty and health purposes. In saunas, essential oils are used as a means of providing even deeper relaxation and enriching the sauna session with various scents.
When using essential oils in a sauna, a few drops can be added to the water, which is then poured over the hot stones, creating fragrant steam. This process helps to create a calming atmosphere, reduce stress and fatigue, and open the airways. In addition, each essential oil has unique properties – for example, eucalyptus oil can help with a cold, peppermint is tonic, and lavender is calming and relaxing.
