Sauna Clocks – For Even More Effective Sauna Rituals
Sauna clocks are not just decorative accents, but also an important tool for managing your sauna rituals. Time spent in the sauna is closely linked to well-being, safety, and greater benefits from the procedures, so we choose to sauna consciously, taking time into account. Our selection includes sand timers for saunas, designed to withstand high temperatures and fluctuating humidity.
Why are sauna clocks an essential accessory for every sauna?
In every sauna, many people can easily lose track of time, so they tend to stay in too long, especially when bathing at extremely high temperatures or using sauna whisks. A sand timer helps you objectively assess how much time you’ve already spent in the sauna and when it’s time to step out to cool down. A sauna timer is most useful for beginners, children, or older adults, for whom shorter sauna sessions are recommended.
The timer is also useful when performing specific sauna routines, such as heating in stages, taking breaks between sessions, or planning a birch branch treatment. In these cases, a structure and rhythm are created which, unlike chaotic sauna use, provide deeper relaxation and greater benefits for our bodies.
Why choose a sand timer for the sauna?
Sand timers for saunas are not chosen by chance. Electronic or mechanical timers often cannot withstand high temperatures and humidity, while these, made of wood and heat-resistant glass, function reliably under any conditions. With a minimalist design and a particularly natural look, the clock blends seamlessly into the overall sauna atmosphere and becomes an integral part of it.
Sauna clocks – which one is best to choose?
When choosing clocks for saunas, one of the main and most important criteria is the time interval. The most popular options among our customers are models that count in 5-, 10-, and 15-minute intervals, which everyone can choose based on their sauna experience and habits.
Another important criterion is the visibility of the timer. Visibility is often poorer in steam saunas than in dry saunas, so a timer with bright sand, such as the Sand Timer for Saunas - 15 min, red 50 x 275 x 35 mm (Product code: PRLS018) or the Sand Timer for Saunas - 15 min, blue (Product code: PRLS009) can be excellent options. Sauna timers should also be securely mounted, preferably on the wall, so they are clearly visible from different areas of the sauna, and their use should be as simple as possible.
Sand timers also pair very well with other sauna accessories, such as wooden ladles, water buckets, sauna textiles, or other accessories. When choosing a clock, consider the type of wood and colors that dominate your sauna to ensure a cohesive and harmonious sauna space.
How can sauna clocks help you experience true sauna pleasure? Tips for sauna-goers
Every type of sauna has its own rules and procedures, so a clock helps maintain a safe and balanced rhythm for every sauna enthusiast. In steam saunas and traditional saunas, a single session usually lasts between 5 and 15 minutes. At high temperatures of 80–90 °C in the sauna, it is recommended to stay for a shorter time—about 5–8 minutes. At lower temperatures, such as 60–70 °C in a steam bath, the session can last 10–15 minutes.
Bath procedures are usually performed during the second or middle session in the steam room or sauna. Such a procedure lasts about 10–15 minutes and requires constant monitoring of your well-being. A break is necessary after each session—resting in the pre-sauna area, cooling off in the shower, a body of water, or fresh air. The rest period should be at least as long as the time spent in the sauna.
Infrared saunas operate at lower temperatures, but the heat penetrates deeper into the body. A single session here usually lasts between 20 and 30 minutes. In all cases, an hourglass allows you to keep track of time accurately, stay within the recommended limits, and enjoy the sauna safely.
