Cladding for Saunas

It is very important to choose the right wood for a sauna. Two of the most popular choices are linden cladding and alder. Linden is a light-colored wood, particularly suitable for saunas where you do not plan to use birch branches for whipping, as the oils released from the branches can stain the walls more quickly. Due to its light hue and pleasant appearance, linden planks are often chosen to create a cozy and clean sauna environment.

Black alder is darker than linden, sometimes even having a reddish-brown hue, making it perfect for saunas intended for whisking. It is a practical choice for those seeking not only aesthetics but also wood suitable for more intensive sauna use.

The most expensive wood is African cedar, whose color can range from light to dark brown. Cedar has a strong, natural scent beloved by sauna-goers, so it does not require additional impregnation. It is an exceptional choice for those seeking luxury and an authentic sauna experience.

We sell both narrow and wide cladding boards, so you can choose the option that best suits your sauna design, style, and individual needs.

We classify the cladding boards into two grades. Grade A consists of boards with small, sparse knots. Grade AB consists of boards with larger and more frequent knots. This classification makes it easier to choose the right option based on your desired aesthetic and budget.

Remember that the cladding must be properly dried and of sufficient thickness—otherwise, it may begin to warp. Therefore, when selecting, it is worth paying attention not only to the type of wood but also to the quality of its preparation, so that the sauna remains durable and aesthetically pleasing.
