BAYROL Phenol Red Tablets are reagent tablets designed for measuring the pH of swimming pool and spa water using compatible water testing devices, photometers and other water analysis instruments. Instructions for use

1. Take a water sample according to the instructions of your water testing device.

2. Add one Phenol Red tablet to the sample.

3. Allow the tablet to dissolve completely.

4. Measure the pH according to the instructions of the testing device.

5. If necessary, adjust the water pH to the recommended level.

Warning

Phenol Red Photometer tablets with black text on the blister foil and the word Photometer are intended only for use with electronic photometers or the Electronic 287300 Pooltester. They are not suitable for visual comparator pool testers.

For visual colour comparator testers, use Phenol Red Rapid Pooltester and DPD No.1 Rapid Pooltester tablets with green text on the blister foil.

Application

Free chlorine and pH levels should be checked at least once a week.

General procedure for measuring chlorine and pH with a photometer (follow the instructions supplied with your instrument):

1. Switch on the instrument, collect a water sample approximately 0.5 m from the pool edge and 5–10 cm below the water surface, then zero the instrument according to the manufacturer's instructions.
2. Fill the test cell to the marked level with the water sample.
3. Select the required measurement mode (chlorine, pH, etc.). Remove one Phenol Red Photometer tablet directly from the blister without touching it, place it into the test cell, crush it if required and allow it to dissolve completely.
4. Wait until the analysis is complete. The measuring time may vary depending on the selected test.
5. Read the displayed measurement result according to your photometer's instructions.

If the free chlorine level is below 0.3 mg/L, add chlorine until the recommended concentration is reached. The recommended free chlorine level is 0.3–0.6 mg/L.

If the pH value is above 7.4, use a pH reducer. If it is below 7.0, use a pH increaser.

Safety recommendations

• Do not ingest the tablets.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Do not touch the tablets with your fingers. Remove them directly from the blister pack before use.

Storage recommendations

Store the tablets in a cool, dry place in the original packaging. Keep away from acids, alkalis, frost, excessive heat and direct sunlight. Protect the packaging from damage.

Shelf life: 10 years from the date of manufacture.
