Surrounded by Iceland’s distinctive landscape, this family sauna was designed so that the view outside becomes an integral part of the interior. A large panoramic window is one of the key features of the space, opening the sauna towards the snow-covered Icelandic scenery.
The interior is dominated by light natural wood finishes and clean horizontal and vertical lines. The two-level bench layout makes efficient use of the compact space, while warm integrated LED lighting behind the benches and backrests adds depth and creates a calm, cosy atmosphere. Darker elements in the flooring and lower bench structure provide a subtle contrast to the lighter wall and ceiling finishes.
At the heart of the sauna is a Tulikivi Tuisku Nobile electric sauna heater, distinguished by its substantial soapstone cladding. The Nobile finish is made from water-treated soapstone, while the Tuisku design allows the heater to be installed close to the benches and integrated into the bench structure. The heater can accommodate up to 60 kg of sauna stones.
Two elements define this project particularly well – the warm, peaceful sauna interior and the Icelandic landscape visible through the window. In the evening, the illuminated sauna becomes a warm point of light within the cool Nordic surroundings.
